The Ministry of Finance has recognized that János Veres, Minister of Finance initiated a meeting with banks financing the state debt to alleviate the problems of the state budget. Probably the former official prognosis of the Ministry will be also modified. Mr Áder said it was unparalleled that until June the planned annual deficit will be achieved.
The government could not halt the deterioration of the economy and the situation is worse than it was before Ferenc Gyurcsány came to power after Péter Medgyessy. He said 70 pc of all the taxes had to be paid for interests of debts and since 2002 there had been 33 tax raises and they have introduced six new taxes. Tamás Katona, political state secretary of the Ministry of Finance said the Hungarian economy was performing well in this year, too and refuted the intentions of restrictions.
