’If there is no social and political consensus, no radical tax reform will be possible in the forthcoming years’, János Veres, Minister of Finance said yesterday. The politician on the forum of the American Chamber of Commerce added that the coalition government would settle the plan of health reform within a week and the regulation of some taxes would be changed, mentioning especially V.A.T. Fidesz has reacted to this announcement that the government cheated people with the promises of tax reductions though in fact rates and taxes were increased. András Bőhm (Free Democrats) denied the fact of promising radical tax reductions while Gábor Széles, chairman of the Union of Employers and Manufacturers expressed his hope that next year when Fidesz wins the elections, the tax reform will be accomplished.
