’If we always say what people would like to hear it is not good’.
Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány said it was a wise decision that the government gave up a part of its tax income while he noted about the privatization of Budapest Airport that it remained in state ownership though a state property in itself was not a good thing. (Though he wishes to privatize the airport.) In the issue of the dual citizenship of Hungarians beyond the borders he said he wanted to follow a courageous ’realpolitik’. In his interview to the Hungarian (public) Radio the Premier said he was dealing extensively with the person of Viktor Orbán in his parliamentary address because it was clear the chairman of Fidesz would be his rival in the election of 2006. Zsolt Németh, head of the foreign affairs cabinet of Fidesz said Mr Gyurcsány was ’courageous’ in flagrantly violating the former national consensus and created a barrier between Hungary and Hungarians beyond the borders.
