Every tenth company can go bankrupt if the government will not interfere. The leaders of building industry met yesterday and claimed the basic problem was the immorality of the society and the lack of appropriate laws. The national conference of leaders in building industry with more than 200 participants stated that 64 pc of smaller companies were indebted while in greater companies employing 150-200 workers this proportion was 42 pc. They have to wait at least 6-8 months even for collecting the price of the building material and the corruption in Hungary is still greater than in Romania. They urged the government to appoint a building commissioner because there are more than 90 000 building companies in Hungary which produce 18 pc of the GDP. The companies find it alarming that great investments are usually given to project companies while the number of individual entrepreneurs has been reduced by 6000 within a year according to the Central Office of Statistics.
