REVENGE FOR SURGEONS’ SUIT IN SZOLNOK?

Surgeons of the accident surgery of Szolnok hospital have been deprived of a part of their income because they had sued the hospital for their unpaid night duty fees and won the suit.

The hospital obliged the doctors to treat only emergency cases and forbade them to reserve operations in advance. The doctors claim this is the revenge of the hospital. The court has ruled that the doctors of Hetényi Géza Hospital in Szolnok had a right to a full-time salary for duty hours as well. The chairman of the Hungarian Medical Chamber called this decision of the hospital shocking. It seems the night and emergency duty system in Hungary has serious shortcomings because the state would not cover these necessary extra expenses.
