This has been announced by Péter Gusztos MP but several local citizens protested against the proposal, reminding him of the fact that Stalin was still a freeman of the city of Budapest and the memorial of the Soviet oprressors was still there in Szabadság square. The statute has been blessed by the Christian churches at its inauguration on last Saturday. The church leaders claim that the wish of the Free Democrats remind them of the Communist era when ’clerical’ statues were demolished.
