WHOSE PROFIT IS HUNGARIAN BIRD FLU VACCINE?

It is not clear at the moment how the Hungarian vaccine against bird flu can be sold abroad because the income may be demanded not only by Omninvest Ltd producing the vaccine but by WHO, too. That is why the National Health Office has addressed a letter to WHO to make clear the conditions of sale for the vaccine or its production process.

Earlier Premier Gyurcsány claimed the export could bring profit for Hungary. Poultry farmers charge the Hungarian government and mainly Jenő Rácz, Minister of Health with panic mongering as 30-40 000 poultry farmers’s existence is in danger as the news of the pandemic reduced poultry consumption by 15-20 pc and the Ministry of Agriculture pressed by the European Union brought even stricter measures yesterday as new bird flu cases appeared in the neighbouring regions.
