DATE OF ELECTIONS CONSULTED

President László Sólyom will meet on Thursday Katalin Szili, Speaker of the parliament to discuss the date of next year’s elections. This date will determine the duration of the spring session. Since the change of regime three times out of four occasions the presidents appointed the date of elections in December while Árpád Göncz decided in February about the dates of May in 1994. This time the president probably chooses a date between April 9 and May 7 – both are Sundays and there are no national holidays near them to trouble the process of voting.
