The roles of Hungarian ministers are changing significantly, according to the Hungarian Gazette published on Monday evening, reflecting a major reorganization of the government.
Antal Rogan is responsible for general political coordination, government communication, national branding, civilian national security services as well as civilian intelligence activities, and the oversight of classified data protection.
Gergely Gulyas takes over the coordination of social policy.
while Istvan Nagy, minister of Agriculture, will oversee the "Hungarian Village Program," handling related tasks, preparing relevant legislation, and ensuring implementation.
According to Index portal's summary, Janos Lazar, minister of Construction and Transport will also be tasked with cultural heritage protection, road toll services, enforcing sustainability in certain commercial buildings, and managing "rust belt" redevelopment projects. His duties now also include
overseeing investments in the Buda Castle District, the Citadella, and the Visegrad historical complex.
Minister of National Economy Marton Nagy will also take charge of gambling regulation while Culture and Innovation Minister Balazs Hanko will also be in charge of film industry related responsibilities.
Energy Minister Csaba Lantos gains control of e-governance and IT.
He will develop and take part in implementing a unified info-communications infrastructure and services strategy, manage the national e-governance system, personal data and address registries, travel regulations, audiovisual policy, and electronic communications. Lantos will define the general principles of e-governance.
Tibor Navracsics, minister for Public Administration and Regional Development, takes charge of the "Active Hungary" portfolio, developing strategies for active mobility (including bicycle route infrastructure) in cooperation with the transport minister. He will develop strategies for bike tour and transport routes, and assume coordination of maintenance and development.
Additionally, the Energy Ministry is designated to support the centralized IT procurement system and the National Communications and IT Council under the updated regulations. The National Concessions Office will be overseen by Marton Nagy,
while the Digital Hungary Agency—previously under the Prime Minister’s Cabinet Office—now goes to Csaba Lantos.
Prime Minister Viktor Orban's decree on the changes goes into effect on Tuesday.
