OFFICE OF CUSTOMS AND EXCISE: TRAVELS FOR MILLIONS, STARVING DRUG FINDING DOGS

The Office (VPOP) has to save money because it has a reduced budget, even the money to feed drug finding dogs is scarce, employees have not received their quarterly premium while executives travel abrod for HUF 15 million in a quarter of a year.

The lack of money can be dangerous because it can lead to an increasing corruption. Today János Nagy, commander of VPOP leaves for Madeira where they hold the 71st conference of heads of customs of the EU countries and Turkey. The journey for the commander and for his partner will cost HUF 920 000 though sources say this conference is just a club meeting without any important role. There are other expensive journeys planned to Brussels and to Italy, too.
