’I have decided even before the EP election that I would not contend for the chairmanship at the next election of new officials but I would be pleased to undertake any task in the national presidium which is compatible with my work as Foreign Minister’, László Kovács announced yesterday. According to sources of Magyar Nemzet there is still a pressure on Mr Kovács who is blamed for the election defeat, Gyula Horn finds mainly László Kovács responsible for the failure but Gábor Kuncze, chairman of the Alliance of Free Democrats said the whole campaign of the Socialists had been mistaken and without any conception, and too negative.
