EXAMINATION EXPECTED IN SPORTS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC TELEVISION

The policy of the sports department of Hungarian (public) Television has been criticized by members of the board of trustees of the Hungarian Television Public Endowment.

The supervising committee examines also the connection with a school of journalism closely attached to a Socialist politician. Several trustees said certain kinds of sports had almost '’invaded'’the programmes while Gábor Komlósi'’ school of journalism practically works in the public television. Mr Komlósi is deputy head of the sports department led by Tamás Vitray and several people on the staff of the department have studied in this school. Among the teachers of the school one can find the name of Ildikó Lendvai, faction leader of the Hungarian Socialist Party whose telephone message to Sándor Friderikusz about his support as would-be president of the public television had made a scandal.
