GYURCSÁNY INCREASES TENSION

If Medgyessy comes home, the sports minister will raise the question of confidence.

In an interview to the daily Népszabadság Ferenc Gyurcsány said if Premier Medgyessy had no confidence in him he would resign. The politician and billionaire said he was always loyal to the Premier but this did not exclude a critical attitude. Ferenc Gyurcsány claims that economic and social policy should go hand in hand, of course within the limits of the budget. Gyurcsány has refuted the rumours that it was him who had spread the news about his dismissal. Socialist Party members claim Ferenc Gyurcsány follows the recent fashion of politicians who try to gain support by criticizing the government before the congress of the Hungarian Socialist Party.
