CATERING INDUSTRY RESOLUTE AND IMPATIENT

Several catering organizations want to modify the law about daily closing invcentory of alcoholic beverages introduced on August 1. The chairman of the Union of Hungarian Catering Industry said their patience would end by September. If the law will not be suspended or modified there will be serious actions.

Tamás Háber chairman said they had already posted the proposal to modify the law for the state secretary responsible for tourism and for the parliamentary committee responsible for tourism and agriculture. There have been many complaints and the raids led by armed customs officers caused stupefaction. He said no other EU member country had such a severe law. The inventory after closing hours is a great burden for the catering industry and the complicated process will not prevent illegal use of alcoholic beverages.
