CITIZEN’S PETITION AGAINST PARKING METERS

A lady has turned with a petition to a parking company in Budapest claiming the company violates the law because the parking meters do not accept banknotes only coins while the regulation of the Metropolitan Assembly does not give any time of grace.

The lady received a ticket as she could not pay the parking in time. The woman filed a protest saying the parking company violated the banking law which says all valid banknotes and coins should be accepted but most of the parking meters operate only with coins. Kázmér Kovács, head of the legal department of the Hungarian Automobile Association finds the protest legally well-founded.
