Outgoing Prime Minister Péter Medgyessy can have a recompensation of HUF 4 million, the equivalent of three months’ salary. Ministers who will not get a post in the new cabinet can get about HUF 2,7 million. The whole sum may be about HUF 100 million as the law regulates the recompensation according to the time spent on the appropriate post.
It depends on the person of the future Premier who will be leaving: it is expected that in the case of Ferenc Gyurcsány as Prime Minister more personal changes will be made. Medgyessy’s fall can have consequences in the state company sphere, too. Probably the seat of János Erős will be in danger, too. Mr Erős is general director of the Hungarian Development Bank and a close friend of the outgoing Premier. If dismissed, János Erős will not get any recompensation but his monthly salary has been HUF 5,4 million, a premium inclusive.
