József Ángyán, expert of the farmers’ circles said even the new accreditation of the operation of the Office of Agricultural and Regional Development can take place which may delay the payment of subsidies for a longer time.
The plan wishes to regroup HUF 14,2 billion from the funds allocated to the office to increase the area-based subsidies though 80 pc of this fund comes from the European Union earmarked for regional development. The regrouping would affect negatively mainly the small and medium-size farms.
The agricultural unions COPA and COGECA protecting the EU agricultural market complain that some new EU members, mainly Hungary, threaten the tability of the corn market because of the weakness of their intervention programme.
