AMBASSADORS OF ARAB COUNTRIES PROTEST

Ildikó Lendvai, faction leader of Socialists tries to excuse Gyurcsány’s scandalous announcements. ’It is difficult to swallow this joke’, Lebanon’s ambassador reacted to Prime Minister Gyurcsány’s term of abuse saying that the members of the national eleven of Saudi Arabia were terrorists. The Premier made this remark yesterday on the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Hungarian Socialist Party. He said the Hungarian soccer team fought intrepidly against the ’Arabic terrorists’ last Wednesday so the draw was fantastic. Ms Lendvai said it was a matter of taste how sharp a remark was but Houssein Moussawi, Ambassador of Lebanon found the remark most unlucky and offensive while the Ambassador of Tunisia said it was just a bad joke. The chargé d’affaires of Syria said it was unlucky to call Arabs terrorists and found it possible that they would protest officially. The sport section of Fidesz has requested Mr Gyurcsány in a communiqé to refute the piece of news which was racist though during the past months the Premier has been talking nonsense several times.
