The letter posted last autumn recommended to start a criminal investigation in the case. Apart from the letter in the possession of Magyar Nemzet there is a report of the Customs and Excise Oiffice, too, confirming the fact that certain products of Zwack Unicum Company should be taxed in a higher tariff category.
The report had been signed by the head of the chemical laboratory some days before Mihály Arnold left his post as chief of the office. Mihály Arnold went on working for Tibor Draskovics as an adviser and last year on September 29 he returned to the case in a letter writing that ’someone called off this case’ in April 2003 and the report was never officially registered.
In spite of Arnold’s letter no police investigation has been ordered and all officials confirmed there were no investigations in the case. According to informed sources Tibor Draskovics has ordered severe measures to prevent leaking out confidential informations from the Ministry of Finance. The strict security measures which include a personal search have shocked the employees of the Ministry mainly because the personal advisers of the minister are excepted from the measures.
