REPORTS DEMANDED FROM JOURNALISTS

The Ministry of Defence dismissed two journalists from the official weekly of the ministry because they disapproved of the demand to write reports about political programmes though this did not fit in their job description and did not correspond to the ethics of journalism, either.

Ten journalists of the weekly Magyar Honvéd has addressed recently a letter of complaint to Ferenc Juhász, Minister of Defence. They mentioned the case of the press briefing of Jobbik party held on November 24, 2003. The report was prepared but remained finally unpublished. Magdi Egri, editor-in-chief of the weekly and her deputy, Lt-Col. Dezső Papp were dismissed and the paper is lead by László M. Tóth, temporary editor-in-chief.
