EU CONDEMNS STALINIST INVASION OF EUROPE

Yesterday the European Parliament approved with a great majority the decision initiated by Elmar Brok, chairman of the Foreign Committee. József Szájer, member of the People’s Party faction of the European Parliament called the decision historic as it was for the first time that the parliament had officially condemned all sorts of dictatorships.

’We should not forget that for some nations the end of World War II brought the renewal of tyranny with the Soviet invasion’, he said. The nations behind the Iron Curtain had to suffer a lot from a social, political, and economic point of view. The decision greets the fact that these nations can enjoy now freedom and calls on the member states of the European Union to open their archives connected with World War II. Csaba Tabajdi on behalf of the Socialist faction said May 9 was a day when Hungary could celebrate its liberation from the Arrow Cross terror which is independent of the fact that 40 years of dictatorship ensued.
