For the time being it is not clear how many chief and other advisers work for the Premier’s cabinet. A year ago 85 persons were admitted, since then, however, Ferenc Gyurcsány has formed six advisory groups with fifty-four members in all. Probably there are at least one hundred government and Prime Minister’s commissioners and advisers swarming around the government and its head. There are people who turn up only occasionally like László Kéri, politologist, who had been photographed in Sweden in the company of the Premier but e.g. János Nemcsók does not work for the Prime Minister’s Office anymore though on the official website he still bears the title of commissioner for the development of the Alföld region. The six groups of advisers with 54 members have been set up by Premier Gyurcsány and the bodies meet occasionally to discuss topics suggested by the Premier, according to government spokesman András Batiz. Now Boglár László claims the advisory bodies decide on their own the time and topic of their meetings. There are also personal commissioners who get no salary but the political state secretaries receive remuneration and service cars, too. The political secretaries of the Chancellery have a monthly salary of HUF 850 000 – HUF 1 million. From among the seven government commissioners e.g. János Vadász and Mihály Kökény get a full salary of a monthly HUF 450 000. It is impossible to assess the number of minister’s commissioners and advisers, in April 2004 their number was 85 and their average salary was a monthly HUF 400 000.
