According to the informations of Magyar Nemzet the price of student cards will be HUF 3000 which means that cards in public education will be five times more expensive while cards for university students would be twice the price of the present ones. The cause of the rise of prices is the chip code which serves for commuting and for electronic signatures, too. The advantage of the latter is questioned by experts.
Chipcards were introduced in 1998 for university students but the conditions of using them could not be provided. Gábor F. Hardy, chairman of the board of parents supporting Christian schools said such measures make the life of families with several children very difficult though the Socialist-Free Democrat government promised in 2002 a free public education.
