GOVERNMENT CARS FOR HUF 1 BILLION

In 2004-2005 the government bought cars for more than HUF 1 billion. For half a billion forints the Republican Guard has received new vehicles, and the ministries bought cars for more than this sum.

András Batiz, government spokesman said it was necessary because the 15-20 years old cars had been ’in terrible condition’. The so-called delegation car fleet had to be changed in a tender of invitation as these cars have to meet special security conditions. 27 upper category cars have been purchased, among them 13 Audi A8 and 14 Audi A6. According to the calculations of Info Rádió in the course of the last one and a half year more than HUF 1 billion has been spent on new cars.
