EXHIBITION OF MARIA HABSBURG REMAINS IN VIENNA?

According to the informations of Magyar Nemzet it is highly questionable if the exhibition entitled ’Maria Habsburg, Widow of Mohács’ can come to Budapest as it is planned from September 30 in the Budapest Historical Museum and early in 2006 in Pozsony to remember the life and age of Maria, widow of King Louis II who died at Mohács in the battle against the Turks.

The HUF 20 million promised by the Ministry of National Cultural Heritage has not been transferred so far to the museum while the National Cultural Basic Programme can transfer the promised HUF 6 million only in 2006. The museum tries to fill the gap with its own sources but its financial troubles have been aggravated by its obligations to make archeological excavations on the route of the planned M0 motorway.
