STATE PRIVATIZATION AND HOLDING BUYS WORKERS OFF WITH BONUSES

There was no agreement yesterday between the trade unions of Budapest Airport Company and the owner, State Privatizaton and Holding Company (ÁPV Rt.), Péter Oravecz, communications director of ÁPV Rt. said to Magyar Nemzet.

Earlier the trade unions of Malév discovered the strings leading to László Puch, treasurer of the Hungarian Socialist Party behind the privatization of Malév, now the trade unions of Budapest Aiport are on the alert to avoid similar transactions. Informed sources claim the workers of Budapest Airport have been promised a ’privatization bonus’ equivalent to the sum of 2.5 months’ salary if they do not strike or sue the company. In exchange for different benefits the workshop council is expected to cancel its petition at the Metropolitan Court to stop the privatization process. Péter Oravecz said the talks would go on with the trade unions.
