FLAGRANT RESTRICTIONS IN HOSPITALS

In the hospital in Salgótarján in-patients are not supposed to use hot water, air-conditioning has been disconnected and several lifts are not working due to restrictive measures.

Several institutions have had to adopt similar extreme measures to economize their work. In-patients have been accustomed to the practice that they are expected to provide for toilet paper, serviettes, or even medicines but the hospital in Salgótarján surprises even the hardened visitors. In other hospitals the use of telephones has been limited or they use sterilized plastic sampling-tubes to reduce costs. Experts claim such minor restrictions deteriorate the standards of health service and the 4.5 pc raise of salaries prescribed by the law from September can be done only by further restrictions.
