Tamás Leisztinger, an entrepreneur closely attached to the Socialists, has struck a big deal again with the state. He has become the majority owner of a firm responsible for the greatest real estate development in Budapest along with the local self-government. The investment will be made by Öböl XI Ltd, founded by the local self-government led by Gyula Molnár Socialist MP to develop the Lágymányos region with access to the Danube. The co-owner of the real estate became very soon Eravis Holding, Leisztinger’s firm, which has obtained the majority of the land by different transactions and now the self-government owns only 28 pc of the real estate.
According to Domokos Schneller, local representative of Fidesz the loss of the self-government is about HUF 3.5 billion. He criticized the deal referring to the fact that Leisztinger’s company had been selected without any tender and the assessment of the real estate had been highly mistaken. Mayor Gyula Molnár has refuted the allegations and said the self-government made an annual profit of HUF 400-500 million from the development. There is a striking similarity to this deal in the method of buying up ACC Ltd and CAD Holding by Leisztinger’s KNB-Fuente Ltd to control the future of 100 hectares in the vicinity of Ferihegy Airport which cannot be avoided in plans to develop the airport. Tamás Leisztinger’s good connections are marked by the fact that his Forrás Company takes part in the valuation of real estates supervised by the Treasury Property Management and in the process of their sales, too. Leisztinger has the sixth place in the list of the richest people in Hungary with an estimated fortune of HUF 38.2 billion.
