The meeting of the presidium and county chairmen of the Hungarian Democratic Forum (MDF) has expressed their common standpoint that their party could not identify itself with the programme of the Hungarian Socialist Party in any form and this opinion will be expressed in the communication of the party – faction leader Károly Herényi said to Magyar Nemzet. The body also decided the standpoint would not be recorded in writing. Several county chairmen have expressed their doubts over the turn. They said it was Political Capital which gave advices to chairperson Ibolya Dávid and the main target would remain Fidesz. Earlier the national assembly of MDF decided to conclude an alliance with a party the programme of which could be acceptable for them. Members of the party recently excluded expressed their fears that MDF would shift to the left and György Gémesi, Mayor of Gödöllő broke his cooperation with Ibolya Dávid mainly because of the lack of dissociation from a possible alliance with the Socialist and Free Democrats.
