Tamas Menczer: A Thousand People in Brussels Are Working to Fast-Track Ukraine’s EU Membership!

“If we don’t protect our own interests, no one else will do it for us. So let’s protect them ourselves,” Tamas Menczer, Communications Director of Hungary's ruling Fidesz–KDNP alliance, urged in a video message on social media.

“Among our good colleagues in Brussels there's an enlargement commissioner. She said that a thousand of her staff are working to bring Ukraine into the European Union as quickly and immediately as possible,”

Menczer says in the post, referring to EU enlargement efforts and also cites a previous remark by Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos, in which she said:

I’m pushing my colleagues here in Brussels — about a thousand people — who are working across various areas just for the accession of one candidate country.

Menczer concluded by encouraging Hungarians to vote in the upcoming public opinion consultation on Ukraine's EU membership:

That’s why I ask you to take part in Voks 2025 and to tell everyone that every vote matters. If we don’t defend our interests, no one else will. So let’s defend them ourselves!
