HUNGARY HAS NOT PAID LYBIA YET

Lybia still expects Hungary to pay the sum of 28 million dollars which it received in advance for military equipments.

The contract was made during the Kádár-regime. The conditions of repayment were set during the Orbán government but the Medgyessy cabinet delayed the issue until Lybia threatened Hungary with filing a sue. The contract was made in 1982, the full sum was 300 million dollars and the Hungarian state export company had to transport reconnaissance equipments. The Medgyessy cabinet on March 31 approved of the repayment and commissioned the State Privatization Company (ÁPV Rt) to settle the debt through a commercial bank.
