TOTAL FIASCO OF EU COMMUNICATION

’The communication of the European Union has been without any results in Hungarian society though its expense was more than HUF 2,3 billion, so we can speak about a total fiasco’, said Zoltán Bagó MP (Fidesz) in a press briefing on Saturday.

The European Union Communication Public Endowment liquidated in April had a budget of billions but apart from coloured leaflets and funny posters there was not any essential information communicated which might have helped orientation. ’We are members of the European Union but Hungarian citizens still do not know almost anything about the necessary steps to make’, he said. There has been released a cartoon series produced by György Gát about the European Union for HUF 170 million but the series did not contain any useful information. Zita Gurmai MP (Socialist Party) refused the criticism saying that there were opposition members of the board of trustees of the public endowment, too, who might have helped the programmes with useful ideas.
