’Those who are given birth support on social grounds should not multiply’, that was the explanation by which a Socialist representative in Sárbogárd refused a proposal of Fidesz to give HUF 20 000 as a childbirth aid.
Károly Neboda, Socialist faction leader said such an aid would serve the interests of people who wanted to live without working while Zoltán Etelvári, another Socialist representative said those who need such aid should not multiply. Mr Etelvári said this was not racism, this was a fact. ’These people live on us like leeches and they should not multiply because we maintain them from our taxes.’ ’Such aids do not even get to the children as this money is spent in pubs,’ he added.
