Though Premier Medgyessy and István Csillag, Minister of Economy and Transport last year during their visit in China mentioned ’seriously’ this option, so far no bidder has turned up from behind the Great Wall to a Hungarian motorway tender. The government spokesman said all companies could bid which had been registered in Hungary. An expert claims the whole idea of Chinese road builders arose just to frighten Hungarian motorway building companies by the therat of much cheaper bids.
