Tamás Bálint is the suspect of bribery. According to the prosecutor’s office Tamás Bálint has received HUF 10 million from Attila Kulcsár for a report about the State Supervision of Financial Institutions (PSZÁF). Tamás Bálint at that time worked as a chief adviser to the state secretary responsible for public acqusitions, previously he had been László Keller’s cabinet chief. It is said Attila Kulcsár gave him the money for the documents in the room of a leading Socialist politician in the headquarters of the Hungarian Socialist Party. Tamás Bálint can defend himself at large. Tamás Bálint was a prospective MP on the Socialists’ list in 2002, at present he is the chairman of the supervising committee of Budapest Airport Company and one of the leaders of a young Socialist group called ’Balternativ’. Attila Kulcsár needed the report about PSZÁF because its employees had got closer and closer to reveal the illegal activities of K&H Equities and Kulcsár saw the removal of Károly Szász as the only solution. According to the sources of Magyar Nemzet Attila Kulcsár said in his confession that Tamás Bálint had been recommended to him by László Kodela, then state secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office. In May 2003 Bálint worked for the State Secretary of Public Acquisitions so he had access to confidential materials about PSZÁF.
