The problems of the university have been qualified by Bálint Magyar, Minister of Education as parts of a political game. Previously István Klinghammer, rector of the university had called attention to the grave financial situation of the university: if they pay the salaries they will be unable to pay heating and lighting charges. The budget deficit of the university is HUF 600 million and the staff considers to work on a voluntary basis instead of dismissing colleagues. The Ministry of Education plans a number of reforms, the Hungarian Committee of Accreditation will be more independent from the minister and the universities could found faculties without any state approval.
