The talks interrupted on Friday have been restarted though István Jakab, chairman of the National Organization of Hungarian Farmers said yesterday the answer of the ministry to their former petition was not acceptable. According to unconfirmed informations the Premier wants to give HUF 21 billion to handle the current situation. The demonstrations go on during the talks, too, and the demonstration committee approves of spontaneous demonstrations, too but they dissociate themselves from extremist movements. The farmers have submitted their application to the police to reserve the whole of Kossuth square for their demonstrations. Yesterday the plenary session of the parliament was mostly devoted to agricultural issues and Premier Gyurcsány said Imre Németh, Minister of Agriculture could talk only in case the results did not affect budget regulations for this year. The pro-government speakers dwelt on farmers being supported by the right wing while Ildikó Lendvai simply said the tractors of the demonstrators were ’Trojan horses’ of the right wing. János Áder, faction leader of Fidesz said the government did not keep any of its promises made to the farmers.
