FIRST RAPED THEN THREATENED WITH DEATH

Bálint Szabó, chairman of the Young Left in Vas county was threatened with death by several people on the phone before the press briefing last weekend when he wanted to speak about the internal fights of the Hungarian Socialist Party and about the motivations of the participants.

Csaba Tóth, former county chairman of the Socialist party sent him an SMS referring to measures affecting Szabó’s scholarship in the USA. György Bárándy, lawyer of Bálint Szabó said the messages urged his client to quit politics otherwise they ’eliminate’ him. Mr Szabó was assaulted and raped last year in Szombathely in connection with his lawsuit against local Romany politicians whom he charged with slander. The Romany politicians said Mr Szabó recruited members for the Socialist Party for money.
