According to the police there is no evidence for the violation of accounting regulations or for fraudulence. The Metropolitan Prosecutor’s Office will probably stop the process. Premier Medgyessy in December 2002 had to cancel the Russian state debt of 62 million dollars in Moscow because some Hungarian entrepreneurs had not paid their debts to the Hungarian treasury while the Russians claimed they regarded the debts already paid. The leaders of the companies affected in the case had been all heard as witnesses in the so-called ’oilgate’ scandal like László Máté, party treasurer of the Socialists and Ottó Hujber, once head of the entrepreneurial section of the Hungarian Socialist Party.
