MOTORWAY CONSTRUCTION: HUNGARIANS SQUEEZED OUT

The trend in Hungarian civil engineering has drastically changed because of motorway constructions in concession – now not only contractors are foreign companies but they mainly employ foreign construction workers, too.

On the section of the M6 motorway between Érd and Dunaújváros built by a German-Austrian consortium, two hundred workers work from Germany according to the informations of Magyar Nemzet and the general partnership commissioned with the building also employs rather foreigners while the subcontractors try to press down home wages.

Experts claim it may mean the end of Hungarian civil engineering if the state gives up its presence in motorway constructions and there seem to be problems with the deadline of the M6 motorway building, too.
