This system would serve the intention of the Prime Minister who said only people with insurance should receive the present wide range health service free. Premier Gyurcsány said this weekend there will be a three-level insurance system introduced. This would be a drastic and surprising change as earlier the Prime Minister said there would be no great changes in this government cycle.
The first group of services would be free for urgent cases, sanitary and epidemic services, and maternity and child care treatments. The second group would include insured patients authorized for basic services and hospital treatment while extra services would need additional insurance or compensation. At present no one examines the position of a patient in the health service in Hungary and people have been accustomed to a free general service.
