MILLIONS FOR THE FALLEN MINISTER

In spite of earlier denials Elemér Kiss, recently appointed head of the so-called Native Country Fund, has received HUF 5.9 million from the taxpayers’ money.

Elemér Kiss, former Minister of the Prime Minister’s Office had to leave his post in 2003 in scandalous circumstances. When the Fund was set up, they claimed the fallen minister would do this job in a community service. The Prime Minister’s Office has published its recent contracts – among them one can find the contract concluded with Mr Kiss: they paid him HUF 5.9 million for preparing the unified bill of cooperatives. The deadline of the work was July 15, 2005 though this bill was passed by the government back in October, 2004.
