The Council of Higher Education and Science has given a damning opinion about the university admission system and the method of counting scores for the Ministry of Education. According to the document in the possession of Magyar Nemzet a basically new method should be elaborated. The Ministry of Education claims they have built in their system all the points recommended by the different educational experts. The Council demands a completely new university admission system which is simple, transparent, and which is in proportion to achievement, diminishing the social inequality of opportunities. The present draft of the government edict contains only minor modifications for 2006 and 2007, affecting only the scores achieved by advanced language examinations and the raising of admission limit scores of special academic courses.
