“Let us thank Sandor Farkas for his 28 years of parliamentary service to you,” Mr. Orban began his speech at the Szentes stop of his nationwide tour. At Kossuth Lajos Square, the prime minister wished strength to the incumbent member of parliament, who will not run again on April 12, and emphasized that decent, persistent people are needed, as many tasks await solutions.
He asked those present to support Istvan Szabo, the Fidesz–KDNP candidate in the upcoming elections. He noted that for months it had been said that Tisza was leading, but even if that had been the case, he believes it has since dissipated.
– We are the majority everywhere, PM Orban stressed.
Mr. Orban said that for them the campaign is a joy and a celebration, because it offers a chance to meet like-minded people in person. He believes meaningful dialogue is impossible on the internet because it is “overrun,” which makes such occasions especially important. In his words, Tisza is “out of place” in Szentes, because “we are at home here, and they are guests.”

The prime minister was also welcomed in Szentes by a Peace March. On stage, he said the past four years had been very strange. Hungarians worked through those years and all felt that life had been unfair to them. As he noted,
the war is blocking the economy; without the war and the misguided sanctions from Brussels, with this much work they could have gone two or three times as far.
— Let us appreciate that as the only European country, we consistently said no to the war. We did not give our sons, we do not give money, and we do not give weapons to a war that has nothing to do with us, he added.
He pointed out that with fixed 3 percent loans, today in all of Europe it is easiest for young people to acquire their own homes in Hungary. He also highlighted the income tax exemption for those under 25. — Even during the war, Hungary did everything for young people, he underlined.
He noted that in the shadow of war, the tax allowance for children had been doubled. — In addition, mothers who have at least two children are exempt from taxes for life. This is only possible in Hungary, he stated.
