Alongside the rolling dollars from USAID, the network of funds sent from Brussels to gain political influence may soon be uncovered as well, the regional Haon news outlet reported from Tamas Deutsch’s press conference in Debrecen, eastern Hungary.
The MEP of the Fidesz and Christian Democrats pointed out that
a large-scale corruption network has emerged within the European Union, so developments should not be surprising.
He noted that several former and current EU officials are being prosecuted, and that during the EU's 2023 budget year, seven EU directorates-general signed contracts worth over ten thousand euros with various NGOs. He cited the example of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, who procured 27 billion euros worth of goods and products via SMS.
