Hungary FM: Hungarians Are Dying Pointlessly in Ukraine’s Completely Pointless War

Another ethnic Hungarian from Transcarpathia has fallen victim to the fighting in Ukraine, where Hungarians are dying senselessly in what is a completely pointless war, Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Peter Szijjarto said Friday in Budapest.

We have just been notified of the 97th Hungarian victim by the Mukachevo (Munkacs) local organization of the Transcarpathian Hungarian Cultural Association (KMKSZ). This time, we were informed of the death of a 48-year-old man—another Hungarian whose wife and two children are now waiting for him in vain,

he said. Szijjarto added that the government will, of course, contact the family and provide them with the customary support in such cases.

This war is completely pointless. Brussels is financing a completely pointless war, sending European taxpayers’ money into a completely pointless war, and prolonging a completely pointless war in which a growing number of people, including a growing number of Hungarians, are dying for no reason,

he said.

This war must be ended immediately. We call on Brussels not to undermine peace efforts in the future. Like Hungary, Brussels and every European country should fully support American peace initiatives with all their heart and strength, because only these efforts can bring an end to the war and to the utterly senseless loss of human life,

he added, according to MTI.
