NATO wants to criticize Hungary because the budget restrictions prevent it from fulfilling many of its obligations and the Hungarian army can take only a limited part in military operations, Magyar Nemzet has been informed. Ferenc Juhász, Minister of Defence has also referred to this in a conference. NATO is concerned because Hungary has no adequate artillery and does not develop its helicoper force, and is unable to set up independent air and ground transport units. NATO experts claim Hungary at the moment can set up only a battalion and cannnot even receive the allied forces, lacking the necessary communication and informatic facilities. There are also serious problems in the field of nuclear, biological, and chemical defence.
