Yesterday the government coalition majority of the parliament has not prolonged the mandate of the committee examining the K&H scandal, preventing the members of the committee to study the transcript of Kulcsár’s telephone conversations. Ervin Demeter MP (Fidesz) expressed his regret and mentioned the case of Miklós Bitvai and Attila Kulcsár’s conversation where the general director of NA company mentioned a certain ’Gyurcsányi’ who ’should be stopped. ’ Mr Demeter also criticized the Socialist members of the committee who prevented the hearing of Socialist politicians. The parliament has also accepted the proposition that pensioners be paid a plus weekly part of their pension in May though opposition criticism maintains this is part of the Socialist campaign before the June 13 EP election.László Kovács, Foreign Minister, chairman of the Hungarian Socialist Party would not dissociate himself from Mrs Kósa’s scandalous anti-Vatican statement. Mrs Kósa has been an observer of her party in Brussels and is on the Socialist list of EP representatives.
