The Association for Academic Training and Research, the Society of Left-wing Intellectuals, the Batthyány Circle of Professors and Védegylet have turned in an open letter to the parties and to MPs asking them not to support the bill of academic training. Fidesz hopes that at least the amendments submitted by it will be accepted. The open letter claims that the bill is contrary to the constitution and it would violate the autonomy of the universities as the direction of the academic training would be delegated to a body influenced by the Ministry of Education. The council would keep the rectors in dependence and would have a total power in economic management. The signers of the open letter, among them György Oláh, Nobel-prize winner in chemistry, find the two-level academic training needless and illogical. József Pálinkás, member of the Hungarian Academy of Science, chairman of the cultural section of Fidesz asked the Minister of Education to accept at least the propositions of Fidesz unless the whole law should be altered in 2006.
