The chairman of the Hungarian Medical Chamber urged measures to be taken by the Minister of Justice and the Minister of Health, and the ombudsman for data protection in a letter claiming that the press regularly publishes cases suspected to be results of malpractice as facts though the cases were not properly examined. István Éger claims such cases deteriorate the faith of patients in the treatment and may destroy the careers of several doctors. Experts say there is no anti-doctor feeling or bias in Hungarians, in a more open and democratic society there are more news about cases of suspected malpractice and there are lawyer’s offices which have specialized themselves for suits of this sort, and people in general would not accept the fact that it is impossible to grant total success of all operations.
